Due to ongoing natural disasters locals have been hit by drinking water scarcity. Most of the natural water resources are dried up. It used to rain 100mm in Kashmir which has dropped 10mm in October 2017.

Met department officials recently told Greater Kashmir that analysis of weather data of the past decade shows that dry spells are emerging as a trend causing the natural water reserves to dry out. This is one of the many reasons why Sardar Foundation is focussing on setting up water boring to tap underground water resources for meeting the demand and providing water facilities to the locals.
